WhatsApp Bot Creation with Automated onboarding

This page contains a complete end-to-end guide for creating a WhatsApp bot using Itzabot's automated onboarding process.

This document will guide you step by step through the process of creating an Itzabot WhatsApp bot using the WhatsApp Business Cloud API. By following these instructions, you will be able to configure your WhatsApp bot and integrate it with the Itzabot platform.


Step 1: Verify the Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have the necessary requirements, such as access to the Itzabot platform, a WhatsApp phone number, and more.


Prerequisites

Before you start creating your WhatsApp bot, make sure you have the following:

  • A phone number that is:

    • Active and able to receive SMS messages.

    • Not registered with WhatsApp or the WhatsApp Business app.

  • A legally registered business.

  • An active website with a valid privacy policy.

  • A business use case that complies with WhatsApp and Meta policies.

  • A valid payment method (debit or credit card) capable of making international payments to Meta for conversation charges.

If you meet all the requirements above, you can begin setting up your WhatsApp Cloud API bot.

Please note that a mobile number can only be used with one WhatsApp service at a time: WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, or WhatsApp Business API. If you want to use your current number, you must remove it from one service before using it with another.


Step 2: Create a WhatsApp Bot and Complete the Automated Onboarding Process


2.1 Register Your Bot in Itzabot

  1. Log in to your Itzabot portal and click the "Create Bot" button in the upper-right corner.

  2. Select "WhatsApp" as the platform on the next page.

  3. Provide the required information and follow the bot creation process.

4. Scan the QR code and start a WhatsApp conversation to create the demo bot first.

5. After successful verification, click "Connect to Your WhatsApp Number" to start the automated onboarding process.


2.2 Complete Meta's Automated Onboarding

  1. Select all prerequisites and click "Continue."

  2. Choose automatic or manual onboarding. This document covers automatic onboarding.

  3. A pop-up window will open where you must complete the Meta onboarding process.

Make sure pop-ups are not blocked in your browser. If they are, enable them.

  1. Once completed successfully, your bot will be connected to WhatsApp. As a final step, you must update your payment method.


Step 3: Update the Payment Method in WhatsApp

In Business Manager, update the payment method for your WhatsApp Business Cloud API account to enable transaction processing.


3.1 Access WhatsApp Account Settings

  1. In "Meta Business Manager," locate and click the "Payment Settings" button for your WhatsApp account.


3.2 Go to the Billing and Payments Page

  1. On the "Billing and Payments" page, click "Add Payment Method."


3.2 Select the Payment Method Type

  1. Choose the type of payment method you want to use for your WhatsApp account.


3.3 Enter Payment Details

  1. Enter the required information according to the selected payment method.


3.4 Verify the Payment Method

  1. Once the information has been entered, continue with the verification process.


3.5 Update Business Information

  1. After verification, make any necessary updates to your business information.

  2. You have successfully updated the payment method for your WhatsApp account.

Congratulations! You have successfully created your Itzabot WhatsApp bot using the WhatsApp Business Cloud API and integrated it with the Itzabot platform. Your bot is now ready to interact with users and provide automated responses.
